We
welcome you to the 2008 New Haven Canal Days Festival. Many
consider Canal Days our community’s premier homecoming event,
welcoming current and former residents as well as guests from the
tri-state area for a week of camaraderie and renewed friendships. |

Our committee volunteers, community leaders, civic organizations,
businesses, churches, and residents have worked hard to bring venues
that will entertain the entire family. This is a truly a family
affair...there is something for everyone.
The New Haven Festival Committee consists of
volunteers from all corners of the community. It is our goal to give
our local not-for-profit entities a venue to raise funds for their
specific projects. By uniting business and charitable organizations,
the positive rewards impact New Haven’s overall quality of life!
The Festival Committee meets on a regular basis 10
months throughout the year. The public is invited to assist in the
planning and coordination. No membership fees are assessed and a
public wrap-up meeting is held each July to obtain input from
participants and spectators of the festival. We invite and welcome
comments that will assist our community event in a positive manner. By
combining and coordinating activities scheduled during the week of the
Canal Days Festival, the City of New Haven is able to gain more
positive recognition and each event becomes more successful for those
involved.
Volunteers from the Festival Committee have regularly attended various
workshops and seminars held annually throughout the State of Indiana
to learn the “nuts and bolts” of community festivals, to obtain new,
successful ideas to involve the community residents and visitors as
well as the total business community, and to obtain the necessary
knowledge to handle all aspects of festival activities, including…
Emergency Preparedness • Insurance • Licensing Requirements •
Promotion • Legal Obligations • Traffic Control & Safety •
Sponsorships • Parade Management • Financial Control • Fire Codes and
Licensing...JUST TO MENTION A FEW !
The New Haven Canal Days Festival does not “Just Happen”. It takes 12
months of planning and it simply could not be done without the input,
support and coordination of all New Haven residents, organizations,
and businesses.
